Being fit, next to good nutrition, is the BEST thing you can do for your body.
I am not saying go kill yourself at the gym or run a marathon ..
Being active can simply be an after dinner walk every night or morning yoga a few times a week.
I promise you if you start little habits like this.. you'll crave to do more!
Personal story-
I was very active in high school, but I got to college and needless to say I gained the "freshman 15".2012-Freshman year of college
2014- Me Currently
Back then I NEVER would have thought I'd be running 10 miles and wanting to do a half marathon!!
This past summer I ran two 5k's where I placed 1st and 2nd overall for females and ran my fastest time of 21:14 which is a little under 7 minute miles! I accomplished so many personal goals this summer and I can't wait to keep pushing !
Enough about me! How can you get started??
Cardio
I want you guys to remember that anything I post or write about whether it's food or exercise I have tried personally!
Love, love LOVE this treadmill workout!
If you are like me and the thought of running on a treadmill sounds like torture, this workout is PERFECT for you! When I was at school last year I really only ran on a treadmill and this was by far my favorite
Tips
If you are new at running and you give this a try and hate it, you are exactly where you should be! Start by maybe only going to 7/7.5 as your max speed or only repeating it 3/4x instead of 5x.
When I started to do this I only did it 3x and then once I was doing that enough to where it became easy, I slowly worked up to getting to 4x and 5x. Set a goal for yourself! Do what you can and once it feels a little easier start to push again.

*I also set my Incline at 2.0 because the goal is not to be running up hill at a high speed but it gives just enough resistance so you are not completely flat (bad for your knees)
Ready for more??
Want a little more you say? Try to do this workout on the days you don't do the Minka Kelly one. Keep in mind that I was on a 6 day/week work out schedule so adjust to what works for you!
Tips
Now, if you feel like the first treadmill workout wasn't for you whether it was too fast or you simply just do not like it, try this one instead
Don't have a gym?
Outdoor running is my absolute favorite thing to do. I could sit and talk about 5ks, half marathons, morning runs, night runs, running sneakers, you name it and I'm all over it. (It's the one thing I do that I feel very confident at)
Now, Everyone is SO different that I cannot give you one or two different workouts to do to achieve xx goal or xx calorie burn. But I can tell you this.. it gets easier!
Tips
Set goals for each week/month. How many miles do you want to run? Do you want to beat a certain time? etc.
Eating some type carb for breakfast/lunch always makes me feel better during my run!
Make SURE you have been drinking enough water throughout the day!! You will cramp up and feel sluggish if your body is not properly hydrated. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
If you are a morning runner, make sure you get enough sleep. You will absolutely not want to wake up and run if it feels like torture because you didn't sleep well. You should try and feel motivated before you go out! I usually have to eat something small before I go out too or I feel very slow.
If you are an evening runner, make sure you plan your day accordingly. It's very easy to make up excuses or get caught up with things throughout the day. I personally am the queen of making up excuses. But at the end of the day you want to feel good about what you did that day, so just run!
Get a buddy! I use the Nike+ app on my iPhone and set up monthly challenges with some friends so we push each other to reach a goal for each month. It's that extra push to keep you going!
It's going to take time to see physical results, but I can guarantee you, mentally you will feel more alert, more alive and just an overall sense of good health. We get caught up in the physical aspect and want to see INSTANT results, but our mind is what pushes us through the physical barriers to reach our goals!
